PARKING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON

Demolition of Exchange Street Parking Deck to begin on February 5th

UAkronPark is excited to announce that the scheduled demolition of the Exchange Street Parking Deck is set for Monday, February 5th.

While efforts will be made to maintain two-way traffic along the adjacent access road throughout the project, please note the related announcement regarding the City of Akron’s temporary closure of the portion of this access road near the intersection of Exchange Street and Sumner Street. Those utilizing the South Campus Parking Deck are advised to access the area from the Carroll Street side or use the Buckeye Street entrance.

Pedestrian Guidance

The sidewalk that runs between the South Campus Parking Deck and the Exchange Street Parking Deck has been closed for this demolition project. Pedestrians needing to get from Carroll Street to Exchange Street (or vice versa) are encouraged to use either the Buckeye Street sidewalk or the sidewalk along the east side of Schrank Hall South.

Staying Updated

The demolition of the Exchange Street Parking Deck marks a significant phase in our ongoing campus improvements. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all students, faculty, and staff during these changes. Our focus remains on ensuring a safe, accessible, and efficient campus environment.

The University of Akron and UAkronPark are committed to keeping the campus community informed throughout this project. We encourage everyone to stay updated through our regular communications and reach out to us for any questions or clarifications.
